Weekend Update!

Well, to heck with the bloggy gods for losing my draft of our weekend update.  :-/

Anyhoo...the pooches had an amazingly exciting weekend!

Nigel started obedience classes.
Sittin' pretty on his "mat"
Then, since Miss Mags was at daycare, Nigel went on his first outing to a local mall where doggies are welcome.  He chilled while we at The Counter, a yummy customize-a-burger joint.

They even gave the mister his own water!
On Sunday, the pooches got to run free in our friends' backyard.  They were STOKED!  (Yes, be jealous, we had a barbecue outside in the sun at the end of February.)

Holy moly, look at that tongue!
I LOVE RUNNING! (And tackling Nigel)
We brought a few beds for the pups but Nigel preferred the bed sheet our friends use for painting.

Then, we were told that we needed to get rid of the dogs by Sunday night.  WAIT, WHAAA?!?  Our downstairs neighbors were evidently VERY unhappy that the dogs clicking toes were click-clack-clicketing very early in the morning.  Crazy phone calls with our landlord ensued but thankfully, four $10 rugs from Home Depot have temporarily solved the problem.  We'd like to move soon anyway, so this is not the hugest deal but just annoying.

The pooches, however, believe that these rugs are big doggie beds that have been added to our home.  I caught Nigel trying out 3/4 rugs while I was cooking and even Maggie took a turn chilling on the new fuzzy rug.

Thanks for all the new beds!
The cool part is that the pups seem to really like being able to use the space in the hallway that was just floor before.  Now it's doggie friendly.

They were both so pooped from all the playing and running and jumping that the rest of the weekend pretty much looked like this.

Successful weekend!!  We're excited for this coming weekend when we have some family visiting.

How was your weekend??!  Any big adventures!?!?

  1. -The neighbors didn't even ask you, but they just told on you? All shared space has some type of noise. We all own, but our neighbor complained that E 'walks too heavy'. Not that we have big parties, or loud music...but E is walking.
-Your weather looks so beautiful. And are those real orange trees?

    1. Yes!! They totally went straight to the landlord. So annoying. I apologized with a bottle of wine and asked that they come to us next time and we'll make sure to quiet down.

They are definitely real orange trees. Los Angeles may be crowded but SoCal has some definite awesome qualities!

    2. That is what our former neighbor did too before we got dogs - straight to property management, then the cops. The complaints? The dog in the apartment next door (even though she regularly spoke with that neighbor!) and me playing Goo Goo Dolls as far from the bedroom as possible at 10pm - which I realize is on the late side, but not in pet friendly student housing on the freight line in a college town.

  2. SO jealous! We've had pretty good weather for Erie, but nothing even close to that!

So frustrating about your neighbors! I only rented 2 years with Tess and all my neighbors were friends and college students (a dog was SO MUCH quieter than their parties til 4am!). I definitely don't miss it though!

    1. I am officially SICK of living on top of people so we're searching for a house...perhaps even in the suburbs.

Thank goodness no one is up till 4am!

  3. What annoying neighbors. Couldn't they have at least knocked on your door and talked to you first before going to the landlord? If you end up needing a longer term solution, super short trimmed nails are pretty easy to get with regular dremeling of the nails. Or possibly have the dogs wear booties around the house.

    1. Right?!!? So annoying. We are getting their nails trimmed this weekend. Luckily, we really do want to move out soon but there was definitely about 24 hours of panic and house searching!

  4. Stupid neighbors, that's insane that they complained to the landlord instead of talking to you first, they are just chickens!

It's really cool that the dogs got the chance to run off some energy in a big yard. And, the BBQ in February? Yes, we're jealous.

    1. Yeah...turns out that they are actually very nice. Don't know why they thought we wouldn't be nice too! The yard was amaaaazing, we're so excited to find one of our own!

  5. We're loving the California winter also! And we are looking for a new place as well, luckily my neighbors have been cool but apartment living just sucks on so many levels. Dog nails? BFD.

    1. Right?!? We're very excited to hopefully find some backyard space. It may mean moving to the suburbs though which is both daunting and exciting...

  6. I think having a dog in an apartment would be stressful! I can just imagine the complaints neighbors would come up with.
